Description:
Foresight practices and application are crucial to building societal visions and instrumental for long-term public policymaking. Japan and Finland have collaborated on future-oriented thought and action for almost a decade. What have learned and what is new in the foresight industry? Circular economy represents a paradigm shift in the way to approach sustainable economic development and provides growing global market opportunities. Japan has a long-term vision for circular economy and Finland has launched the world’s first National Roadmap for Circular Economy. How can we best capitalize and cooperate on this theme?

This WCEF2018 side event in Tokyo brings together policymakers, industry and academia to share experiences on foresight work in Japan and Finland, and to discuss the economic benefits and market opportunities of the circular economy. The purpose of the event is to exchange information and different points of view, as well as to discuss potential future collaboration.
