Description: For 30 months the NEW_InnoNet (Near Zero European Waste Innovation Network), an initiative under the flag of the Horizon 2020 Programme, worked hand in hand with over 160 stakeholders and 770 followers to find effective ways of unleashing the potential of secondary materials such as metals and plastics recovered from electric and electronic waste (WEEE), end-of-life vehicles (ELW) and plastic packaging waste (PPW). The aim of this joint effort is to facilitate the development and market uptake of business oriented innovations for circular economy in automotive, electric/electronic equipment production and plastic packaging value chains.

Now it is high time to share and discuss with the global circular economy community where we have arrived in terms of :

• Finding bottlenecks hampering the switch to circular economy approaches in the focused value chains.
• Defining a common business oriented vision and the innovation roadmaps towards the near-zero objective for plastics and metals in these value chains.
• Identifying use cases where the circular economy concept is a cornerstone of inspiration for new business models relevant for WEEE, ELV and PPW.
• Setting up a Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda with a portfolio of themes and specific research and innovation actions that are both: a response to the real challenges identified by the stakeholders and an opportunity for developing projects that correspond in full to the needs of the circular economy.
