Jenni Ala-Peijari

Project Coordinator, Programmes

Who?

Jenni works as a project co-ordinator on the Reforming the decision-making process project, which aims to accelerate the development of the public decision-making process towards achieving silo-free joint action.

What?

Before joining Sitra, Jenni worked in state administration and the private sector. In addition, Jenni’s professional background in interfaith and cultural dialogue in an NGO has influenced her way of working. Jenni says that her work is based on increasing human understanding between different parties.

Jenni graduated as a Master of Theology from the University of Helsinki, with Study of Religion as her major subject. Jenni is less interested in defining the differences between different cultures and world views and more in the things that connect people.

What else?

In addition to social matters, Jenni is interested in art, running, poetry and urban culture. However, her interest in art does not correlate with her personal artistic abilities, and Jenni considers the totem pole she crafted in primary school as her greatest artistic feat. Jenni does not believe in a regular sleeping rhythm and she often reads during the night. Currently, she has Tristes Tropiques by Claude Lévi-Strauss on her bedside table.

Jenni believes that in the future, humaneness will be people’s most important skill and that a basic course in philosophy will be the most popular course at universities in 2050.
