Lea Kauppi

Lea Kauppi has a long experience on working at the science -policy interface related to various environmental issues.

She has long been Director General of the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE), a multidisciplinary environmental research institution. Her research focus has been on agricultural pollution of rivers and lakes, modeling of impacts of acidification, impacts of climate change as well as management of transboundary waters. She has also participated in evaluations of EU RTD Framework programmes and been a member of evaluation panels of various research institutions and research programmes in Europe. She was previously a member of the International Resource Panel of UNEP.
