Millie Yoshida

Millie Yoshida has recently earned a Master of Architecture degree from the Yale School of Architecture, where she focused on the study of the circular economy and design of sustainable buildings. Her project was nominated for the H. I. Feldman Award, in which with co-author Davis Butner she designed a model for sustainable urban habitation using circular economy methods and mass-timber construction.

Millie was born in Japan and raised in Tokyo and Singapore, before moving to the United States when she was 13. She is a former ballet dancer who trained and performed at some of the world’s most prestigious institutions, performing in over 20 principal and soloist roles on stages in Tokyo, New York City, Dallas and Philadelphia. With an initial academic interest in the sciences, she earned a Bachelor of Arts and Science in Chemistry from The University of Texas at Austin, during which time she worked as a researcher at the Texas Children’s Hospital, co-authoring three abstracts on transfusion medicine and coagulation for the 2014 AABB Abstract Program.

In her career in architecture, she looks forward to fusing ideas for sustainable design practices from Japan and the United States.
