Pekka Myrskylä

Pekka Myrskylä, MSocSc, is a former development manager at Statistics Finland. He was a project manager when Statistics Finland was building a statistical system based on registers to replace e.g. population censuses relying directly on forms that had to be collected. The success of the system lead to consulting tasks in many countries across the world. Using this excellent information system, he has later studied e.g. unemployment, migration among employed people, immigration and its effects, socially excluded young people, homelessness, and the threatening lack of workforce caused by the shrinking of the working age population. He has continued work in these research areas after his retirement from Statistics Finland.
