Rosa-Maria Mäkelä

I am a Specialist in the Foresight and Training function. My work involves EU affairs, the national foresight network and the anticipation of the futures of security. My task is to consider how foresight could support decision-making.

I have knowledge of the fields of democracy, the changing information environment and the security environment. My education includes master’s degrees in social sciences and economics and business administration, and I have also studied futures research. Before Sitra, I worked in the European Commission and in ministries, among others, so I am familiar with the processes of societal decision-making. At Sitra, I have previously familiarised myself with the themes of digital power and democracy.

I am the person to contact if you would like to hear more about Sitra’s foresight work and EU-related work, the international state of democracy or themes related to the changing security environment. Building bridges across boundaries – whether between people or matters – is close to my heart. I am interested in finding sustainable, far-reaching solutions to societal challenges for future generations.
