Tomás Michel

President, WssTP, the European Water Platform

Mr Tomás Michel has been the elected president of the European Water Platform WssTP since July 2012. He is also a freelance consultant and entrepreneur. From September 2009 to the end of 2016, Mr Michel was General Manager of the Water Technology Center “CETaqua” at AGBAR (a subsidiary of Suez Environnement) and responsible for the network of other CETaqua Technology Centers, both in Spain and abroad (in Chile). Prior to this, in June 2006, he was Export Manager at Deisa (COMSA-EMTE Group) and before that he worked at CODIFESA on industrial cooling, brewing and soft drinks, with commercial and marketing responsibilities in Europe and Asia. He has also held the positions of Manager of US Filter (today a part of Veolia Water), Manager of the Waste Water Treatment Division at Culligan in Spain and R&D Manager at ABT (an environmental biotech company).

Mr Michel has a PhD in Microbiology from UC Davis in USA. He has written 33 peer-reviewed scientific and technical publications. From 1981 to 1990 he was a Fulbright fellow, dedicated to scientific research in anaerobic microbiology. He was born in Barcelona in 1957.
