NORDIC GREEN TO SCALE FOR CITIES AND COMMUNITIES
How cities and municipalities can harness the potential of existing climate solutions?
Around 70% of global greenhouse gas emissions are linked to cities and the everyday life of their residents. At the same time, cities are well positioned to create significant emission reductions through, for instance, procurement, land planning and implementing climate-friendly solutions in sectors such as energy, mobility and transportation, buildings and waste.
The Nordic Green to Scale for Cities and Communities analyses proven climate solutions from Nordic cities and municipalities, and the emission reduction potential of implementing the solutions more widely within the Nordic countries. The assessment also covers costs, savings, co-benefits as well as potential barriers and enablers for implementation. In addition, policy recommendations are provided to advance the solutions’ implementation.
The aim is to show how cities and municipalities – both in the Nordics and in other countries – can harness the potential of existing climate solutions and achieve additional benefits for people and the environment.
