I have been Sitra’s President since August 2023. I enjoy the opportunity that I have in line with Sitra’s mission to look for solutions to problems, including very difficult ones. Reflecting on major challenges and the inspiring people working at Sitra are a source of motivation for me.
I have a Master of Laws degree with court training and a doctorate in strategic management in business administration. For more than 20 years, I managed large newsrooms in newspapers, at the Finnish News Agency STT and at the Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE. This has given me a diverse understanding of society.
Before transferring to Sitra, I was Director General for higher education and science policy at the Ministry of Education and Culture. In Europe, I have worked in the academic world in Oxford and at the London School of Economics and consulted national broadcasting companies on matters such as ways of taking advantage of artificial intelligence and digitisation.
