The use of plastics is expected to triple by 2050 and still today we often use plastic packaging only once – meaning 95% of the material value of plastic packaging, or 80-120 billion US dollars annually, is lost to the economy. We are facing a systemic problem but also a business opportunity. This session will discuss the circular and bioeconomy solutions to the plastics problem and shed light on why this topic is so controversial.
