This position paper makes the case that Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is essential to tackling packaging waste and pollution. It argues that EPR is the only proven mechanism to provide dedicated, ongoing and sufficient funding for the collection, sorting and recycling of packaging. By shifting end‑of‑life costs to producers, EPR enables scalable packaging systems and supports the transition to a circular economy.
